Okay so I went out with some friends the other night to see a show, and we had a really great time! The club is totally wheelchair-accessible (like ALL good clubs should be! Ahem!) You know what is funny? And I don't mean like ha ha funny, but like strange funny, is how a lot of places say they are accessible, and they are in terms of not having steps and they do have ramps, but then - this must be something they don't think about at all - sometimes I need to use the ladies room, and the doors are so freakin' heavy it's like almost *impossible* to open them!!! So I'm sitting there in my chair, trying to pull them open with one hand while trying to keep my chair rolling backwards so the door will open, and the door is so heavy it keeps pulling me forwards! Arghhh! Hehe, I know this actually sounds kinda funny and I am actually giggling to myself as I type this, but in reality, I have actually been to places where the ladies room doors were so damn heavy I had to wait for someone else to walk up who was also going to enter and ask her to hold the door open for me so I could get inside! Now, can you really call that "accessible"?
Okay, enough ranting for one day! One to happier topics! My best friend and I are thinking about taking a trip this summer to somewhere *warm*...any ideas? Please post them if you have 'em! I went to Tucson once and I really liked it. I also love going to the beach but wheelchairs and sand don't really mix too well, although I must admit I look damn fine in a bikini! Hehe, hotel pools and hottubs work just fine for me!!
